The difficult part is not finding options. It is deciding which setting best fits your guest list, priorities, and the experience you want to create.
I am Cagdas Yoldas, a wedding photographer serving Montreal and destinations throughout Quebec. I have photographed weddings and editorial projects at many of the venues featured in this guide. I have also included several carefully selected properties that I have not personally photographed but that may be worth considering for their architecture, location, atmosphere, or distinctive setting.
To make your search easier, the guide begins with wedding venues in Montreal and the West Island before continuing to Laval and Montérégie, the Eastern Townships, the Laurentians and Mont-Tremblant, and the Outaouais. Some of these properties are farther from downtown Montreal, but they can be excellent options for couples planning a destination-style wedding weekend without leaving Quebec.

A wedding venue shapes far more than the appearance of your celebration. It can influence your timeline, guest experience, photography, transportation, and how relaxed the day feels. Before comparing décor or architectural styles, consider how you want the entire wedding day to unfold.
Think about the experience you want to create. A downtown hotel allows guests to stay close to restaurants, nightlife, and major Montreal attractions. An industrial venue offers greater freedom to personalize the design. A private estate or countryside property can create a more immersive celebration, especially when the ceremony, reception, and accommodations are all in one location.
Consider the flow of the full wedding day. Ask whether both partners can get ready at the venue, where the ceremony and cocktail hour will take place, and whether guests need to travel between locations. Keeping more of the day at one property can simplify the timeline and give you more time to enjoy the celebration.
Always look at the weather alternative. Outdoor ceremonies can be beautiful, but Montreal weather is not always predictable. A strong rain plan should feel like a genuine second option, not simply an emergency compromise.
Pay attention to light and portrait locations. Large windows, shaded outdoor areas, nearby architecture, and access to greenery can give your photographer more flexibility throughout the day. A venue does not need dozens of photo locations, but it should offer enough variety to create a complete gallery without spending too much time travelling.
Think beyond the reception room. Getting-ready spaces, parking, accessibility, accommodations, noise restrictions, curfews, and nearby hotels can be just as important as the room where dinner takes place.
Finally, decide how far you are comfortable asking your guests to travel. Montreal has many excellent city venues, but properties in Montérégie, the Eastern Townships, the Laurentians, and the Outaouais can offer more privacy, nature, and space for an extended wedding weekend.
Best for: Large, elegant weddings with a highly personalized design
Located in Saint-Henri, Maison Principale is an impressive blank-canvas venue with soaring white ceilings, detailed mouldings, and statement crystal chandeliers. Its architecture feels formal and luxurious without limiting couples to one particular wedding style.
I have photographed many full weddings at Maison Principale, and one of the venue’s greatest strengths is its sense of scale. The Grand Salon can support ambitious floral installations, dramatic lighting, large guest lists, and spacious dance floors without making the design feel crowded. Its neutral interior also gives planners and designers considerable freedom to transform the room.
Maison Principale is especially well suited to couples who want a traditional reception experience with a more contemporary and customized visual direction. Because the venue itself makes such a strong impression, it can also work beautifully for formal, multicultural, or black-tie celebrations.

Best for: Stylish Old Montreal weddings with accommodations on-site
Hotel William Gray combines historic Old Montreal architecture with contemporary interiors and the convenience of a boutique hotel. It offers several event spaces, ranging from intimate rooms to the larger Salle Edward, allowing couples to host different parts of the celebration within the same property.
The hotel is a particularly appealing choice for couples with guests travelling to Montreal. Accommodations, restaurants, event spaces, and many of the city’s best-known attractions are all close together, helping the wedding feel like a complete weekend experience.
From a photography perspective, the surrounding streets provide an excellent variety of backgrounds. Cobblestone streets, historic façades, quiet courtyards, and views near the Old Port are all within walking distance. Couples should still leave enough time in the schedule for pedestrian traffic, particularly during weekends and the busiest months of the year.

Best for: Grand, formal weddings with dramatic historic architecture
Located on Saint-Jacques Street in Old Montreal, Théâtre St-James is a former bank transformed into an impressive event venue. Its Imperial Ballroom features soaring stone walls, marble and wood floors, and a suspended stained-glass dome, creating a dramatic setting for elegant, black-tie, and design-focused weddings.
The venue includes three distinct spaces: the Imperial Ballroom, the White Star Vault Room, and the Princess Grace Mezzanine. Renting the full property gives couples exclusive access to all three, allowing different parts of the celebration to unfold in separate but connected environments. The mezzanine overlooks the main ballroom, while the former bank vault can be transformed into a lounge, bar, photo booth, or another creative part of the guest experience.
Théâtre St-James is especially well suited to couples who want their venue to make an immediate visual impression. Its monumental architecture requires less decorative transformation than a neutral event space, while its built-in lighting, sound, projection systems, staging, and curtains support ambitious entertainment and event design. An external wedding planner is currently required for weddings at the venue.

Best for: Intimate, design-focused weddings with extraordinary historic architecture
Located inside the former headquarters of the Royal Bank of Canada in Old Montreal, Crew Collective & Café is one of the city’s most architecturally distinctive event spaces. Its soaring vaulted ceiling, ornate stonework, marble details, and preserved banking hall create a dramatic setting that requires very little decorative transformation.
I have photographed a full wedding at Crew Collective & Café, and the architecture gives the entire day an immediate sense of grandeur. The venue works especially well for couples who want an elegant, editorial atmosphere without choosing a conventional hotel ballroom. Its historic details, symmetry, and warm interior light create strong opportunities for portraits, ceremony photographs, and reception imagery within the same property.
The different areas of the building can support several parts of the celebration, including cocktails, dining, portraits, and dancing. The surrounding streets of Old Montreal also provide additional portrait locations within walking distance, although couples should allow time for pedestrian traffic during busy weekends.
Crew Collective & Café is particularly well suited to refined, old-world, minimalist, or fashion-inspired weddings. Because the property also operates as a public café and workspace, couples should confirm current privatization options, guest capacity, and event requirements directly with the venue.

Current status: Not presently accepting private wedding or event bookings
McKiernan Luncheonette has appeared in many Montreal wedding venue lists because of its distinctive industrial character, abundant natural light, and food-focused atmosphere. I have photographed at McKiernan, and the long, open room has a warm and relaxed quality that feels very different from a traditional banquet hall.
However, McKiernan’s current website states that it does not offer private reservations for weddings or events. Couples should therefore not consider it an active wedding venue unless its booking policy changes.
I am keeping it in this guide because couples continue to search for information about McKiernan weddings, and older weddings photographed there remain a source of inspiration. Its current status should always be confirmed directly before making any plans.

Best for: Grand weddings with dramatic historic architecture and a strong sense of occasion
Located in Little Burgundy, Le Salon Richmond 1861 is one of Montreal’s most visually distinctive event spaces. The building was constructed in 1861 as St. Joseph’s Church, and its original ecclesiastical architecture remains central to the venue today. Soaring vaulted ceilings, arches, balconies, and a long central nave give the room a scale and character that are difficult to recreate in a conventional reception hall.
The architecture makes Le Salon Richmond particularly well suited to formal, editorial, and design-focused weddings. The room already provides a dramatic foundation, while lighting, florals, long tables, or larger installations can completely change the atmosphere without hiding the historic character of the building.
An adjoining urban garden and terrace provide additional space outside the main hall, giving couples more flexibility for cocktail hour or other parts of the celebration. The venue is also equipped for large-scale events and has extensive technical capabilities for lighting, sound, entertainment, and event production.
Le Salon Richmond is a strong choice for couples who want an urban Montreal wedding that feels historic and dramatic rather than minimalist or hotel-like. Its location also keeps guests close to downtown, Griffintown, the Lachine Canal, and many nearby hotels.

Best for: Art-focused, industrial weddings with a highly creative design
Fonderie Darling is a contemporary visual arts centre housed inside a former industrial building. The venue has preserved much of its original scale and character, including exposed brick, high ceilings, and architectural traces of its history.
Unlike a conventional reception hall, Fonderie Darling feels deliberately raw and artistic. This gives couples and their creative team the opportunity to build an event that feels more like an installation or immersive experience. It is particularly suited to modern weddings, fashion-forward celebrations, and designs that use dramatic lighting, florals, or large-scale décor.
The venue remains an active arts space, and private rentals are generally scheduled around its exhibition calendar. Artworks may sometimes remain inside the space, which can become part of the visual environment of the wedding. Couples interested in the venue should discuss availability and creative restrictions early in the planning process.

The Belvedere is located on King Edward Quay in the Old Port of Montreal. Its floor-to-ceiling windows and elevated position provide expansive views of the St. Lawrence River, Jacques Cartier Bridge, Old Montreal, and Saint Helen’s Island.
I have photographed at The Belvedere, and the view is unquestionably the venue’s defining feature. The room feels open and contemporary, while the private covered balcony and rooftop terrace allow guests to step outside and experience the waterfront setting.
The venue is particularly appealing for evening celebrations, sunset cocktail hours, and weddings taking place during Montreal’s fireworks season. Its large, relatively neutral interior can accommodate many design directions, from minimal and architectural to elaborate and luxurious.
Couples planning portraits in the Old Port should account for walking time and seasonal crowds. Even a short portrait session nearby can add historic architecture and waterfront scenery to the final gallery.
Best for: Luxury hotel weddings with timeless service and formal elegance
The Ritz-Carlton Montreal is one of the city’s most established luxury wedding venues. Located in the Golden Square Mile, the hotel combines historic character with refined event spaces, guest accommodations, in-house catering, and a dedicated wedding team.
The Oval Room is the hotel’s signature reception space, with an adjoining terrace and private garden that can also support outdoor ceremonies or cocktail hours. Smaller rooms are available for more intimate celebrations, making the property suitable for weddings of different sizes.
This venue is best suited to couples who want a polished, full-service experience in the centre of Montreal. It is particularly strong for formal weddings, black-tie celebrations, and events where food, hospitality, and guest comfort are major priorities.
The hotel is also well positioned for portraits. Sherbrooke Street, nearby historic buildings, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts provide several elegant options without requiring a long drive across the city.

Espace L’Éloi is a large rental studio in Mile End created for events, celebrations, and visual productions. Its clean architecture, high ceilings, open layout, and natural light make it a flexible choice for couples who want to create a wedding around a very specific design concept.
I have photographed at L’Éloi, and the space lends itself especially well to editorial, minimalist, and contemporary styling. Rather than competing with the décor, the room acts as a neutral foundation for florals, furniture, lighting, installations, and custom layouts.
Its modular nature also allows different areas to be created within the same venue, such as a ceremony setting, cocktail space, dining area, and dance floor. This can help the celebration feel dynamic while keeping the entire event in one location.
L’Éloi is a strong option for couples who value creative freedom and would rather build a distinctive atmosphere than work around the established appearance of a traditional reception hall.
Best for: Grand urban weddings with historic architecture and contemporary styling
Espace Gare Viger is located inside Montreal’s historic former Château Viger railway station. The venue combines brickwork, arched windows, high ceilings, and heritage architecture with the flexibility of a large modern event space.
I have photographed a full wedding at Espace Gare Viger, and the venue works particularly well for celebrations with a large guest list and an ambitious design. The spacious interior can accommodate formal dining, substantial décor, entertainment, and a large dance floor while preserving a sense of openness.
Its location also gives couples access to several portrait environments. The building itself offers architectural backgrounds, while the streets of Old Montreal and the waterfront are only a short distance away.
Espace Gare Viger is an excellent choice for couples who want the convenience and energy of an urban wedding without giving up historic character. It can feel romantic and classic, but it also adapts well to modern, glamorous, or multicultural celebrations.

Best for: Intimate, nature-filled weddings close to downtown Montreal
Pavillon de la Jamaïque is located on Île Notre-Dame within Parc Jean-Drapeau. Originally built for Expo 67 and later renovated, the pavilion offers large windows, an outdoor terrace, and direct access to the surrounding gardens.
I have photographed a full wedding here, and the venue’s strongest quality is the connection between the interior and the landscape. Natural light fills the room, while the surrounding greenery allows couples to host an outdoor ceremony, portraits, cocktail hour, and reception without leaving the area.
The pavilion feels relaxed and understated, making it particularly suitable for intimate and mid-sized weddings that prioritize nature, conversation, and a welcoming atmosphere over the formality of a ballroom.
Although the venue feels removed from the city, it remains relatively close to downtown Montreal. Couples should nevertheless think carefully about guest transportation, signage, and the walking distance between parking areas, public transit, and the pavilion.
Best for: Modern weddings surrounded by nature, with space for a larger celebration
Also located within the Jardins des Floralies at Parc Jean-Drapeau, La Toundra offers a larger and more contemporary alternative to Pavillon de la Jamaïque. The room features extensive windows, a mezzanine, an outdoor terrace, and views across the gardens toward the Montreal skyline.
I have photographed many weddings at La Toundra, and it is a versatile venue for couples who want both an outdoor atmosphere and the security of a substantial indoor reception space. The greenery surrounding the building creates a natural setting for ceremonies and portraits, while the main room can support dinner, speeches, and dancing in one location.
Original murals connected to the site’s Expo 67 history give the venue an additional cultural dimension. The neutral architecture also leaves room for couples to introduce their own colours, florals, and styling.
La Toundra is especially appealing for summer and early fall weddings, when guests can make full use of the terrace and gardens.

Located in Dorval on the West Island, the Forest & Stream Club is a historic waterfront property overlooking Lake Saint-Louis. Its landscaped grounds, mature trees, traditional interiors, and views across the water create an atmosphere that feels secluded despite being within the Montreal area.
I have photographed many wedding at the Forest & Stream Club, and the property works beautifully for couples who want a relaxed but refined celebration. Ceremonies, portraits, cocktail hour, and the reception can all take place on-site, reducing travel and allowing the day to move at a comfortable pace.
The interior has more character than a typical hotel ballroom, with warm wood details and an old-world private-club feeling. Outdoors, the lawn and waterfront provide some of the venue’s strongest photographic opportunities, especially later in the day when the light softens over the lake.
The Forest & Stream Club is particularly well suited to intimate and mid-sized weddings where guest experience, privacy, and a sense of place are more important than a large-scale ballroom setting.

Located in Sainte-Dorothée, Laval, Château Taillefer Lafon offers the atmosphere of a countryside vineyard while remaining relatively close to Montreal. I have photographed many weddings at Château Taillefer Lafon, and the vineyard views were one of the property’s strongest features. The terrace worked beautifully for the reception, while the gardens and vines provided several portrait settings within a compact area. Inside, the venue’s chandeliers, large windows, and formal architectural details create a refined atmosphere. The current event information indicates that its reception spaces are intended for celebrations of intimate and mid-sized weddings than the much larger capacity previously listed in this guide. Couples should confirm the most suitable room and current capacity directly with the venue.
Château Taillefer Lafon is a strong choice for couples who want vineyard scenery and a château-inspired aesthetic without travelling several hours from Montreal.

The venue offers two principal reception spaces. Both rooms feature traditional décor and a more formal atmosphere than a modern blank-canvas venue.
Couples can choose from several ceremony settings, including covered terraces, an outdoor fountain area, an indoor reception room, and the neighbouring church. The covered ceremony spaces are particularly useful for couples who want an outdoor feeling with greater protection from unpredictable weather.
Château Saint-Antoine is a strong option for couples who appreciate historic character, traditional elegance, and the convenience of hosting the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at the same property. Its location in the Richelieu Valley also offers a countryside atmosphere while remaining accessible from Montreal.

Located in Rigaud, between Montreal and Ottawa, Le Café de l’Horloge is a restored historic post office surrounded by greenery and positioned beside the water. Its stained-glass window, fireplace, high ceilings, garden, and waterfront terrace give the property a distinctive character that feels romantic without being overly formal.
I have photographed both weddings and an editorial at Le Café de l’Horloge. During the wedding, the couple prepared on-site, held their ceremony outdoors, and continued into an indoor reception. Having each part of the day within the same property helped the timeline feel relaxed and allowed us to move naturally between the garden, water, and interior spaces.
The venue is particularly well suited to intimate celebrations. Its current information lists space for approximately 60 guests at an indoor banquet, with additional capacity for cocktail-style or outdoor events. Couples can also choose their own caterer or work with the venue’s catering service, depending on the type of experience they are planning.
Le Café de l’Horloge is a good fit for couples who want their wedding to feel personal, warm, and connected to nature rather than centred around a traditional ballroom.

Located in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Verger du Flanc Nord is an orchard and cidery offering indoor and outdoor event possibilities. The property includes orchards, open green spaces, water, farm animals, and two Nordic-inspired event rooms overlooking the surrounding landscape.
I have photographed a full wedding at Verger du Flanc Nord, and the venue’s variety was one of its greatest strengths. The ceremony took place beneath a mature tree near the orchard, with the water visible behind the couple. We were also able to use the orchard, pathways, fields, animals, and rustic architecture throughout the day without leaving the property.
The reception spaces feel more contemporary than a traditional barn, allowing couples to create a countryside wedding without committing to an entirely rustic aesthetic. Long tables, natural materials, seasonal flowers, and relaxed family-style designs work especially well in this environment.
Because the orchard is also a public seasonal destination, couples should ask how public activities, parking, and access will be managed on their wedding date. The venue notes that exclusive use may be available for certain events.
Verger du Flanc Nord is particularly appealing for couples who value nature, an informal guest experience, and a full wedding day that can unfold in one location.

Located in Bolton-Ouest, Maison Bolton is a private countryside estate set across 244 acres of meadows, wooded trails, and lakefront scenery. I photographed an editorial at Maison Bolton, and the variety of settings immediately stood out. Located in Waterloo, Manoir Maplewood is a historic manor surrounded by mature trees and lush grounds. The property combines character-filled interiors with the comfort and privacy of an exclusive estate, creating an inviting setting for couples who want to spend an entire wedding weekend with their closest guests.
I photographed an editorial at Manoir Maplewood, and the property offers a strong mix of indoor and outdoor photography locations. The landscaped grounds feel peaceful and romantic, while the manor’s architecture, staircases, windows, and individually designed rooms provide additional variety inside.
Manoir Maplewood is currently intended for intimate and mid-sized celebrations. The property is privatized for one group at a time, allowing the wedding to unfold without other events or hotel guests sharing the space.

Couples can create images that feel intimate and romantic, then move into more expansive landscapes without travelling elsewhere.
