Intimate Wedding Venues in and Around Montreal

Rooms that feel full and warm with forty to eighty guests: seven intimate venues in and around Montreal.

A photographer's guide to intimate and small wedding venues near Montreal, where the setting has character and the day stays unhurried.

Last reviewed and updated: October 2026

A smaller wedding changes what you need from a venue. Instead of a ballroom that looks half empty, you want a room that feels full and warm with forty, sixty or eighty people in it, a setting with character, and enough time and space to actually talk to everyone you invited.

I am Cagdas Yoldas, a Montreal and Quebec wedding photographer. These are the venues in and around Montreal that I would suggest for an intimate or mid-sized wedding, most of which I have photographed myself. Capacities change and depend on the format of your meal, so confirm numbers directly with each venue.

For a wider list, including larger venues, see my complete guide to wedding venues in Montreal and nearby.

‍

What Makes a Great Intimate Wedding Venue

The room fits the group. The right size feels lively, not crowded and not cavernous. Ask to see the room set for a wedding of your size.

Character over scale. With fewer guests, the setting carries more of the atmosphere: a fireplace, a garden, a view, beautiful old woodwork.

Everything in one place. At a small wedding, every minute away from your guests is noticed. Venues where you can get ready, marry, take portraits and celebrate on the same property make the day feel generous and unhurried.

Intimate Wedding Venues in Montreal

Best for: A relaxed, nature-filled wedding a few minutes from downtown

Pavillon de la Jamaïque sits on Île Notre-Dame in Parc Jean-Drapeau. Built for Expo 67 and later renovated, it has large windows, an outdoor terrace and direct access to the surrounding gardens and water.

The atmosphere is understated and welcoming rather than formal, which suits intimate and mid-sized weddings that put conversation and nature first. Plan guest transportation and signage carefully, since parking and transit are a walk from the pavilion.

Photographer's note: I have photographed a full wedding here. The light pours into the room, and the ceremony, portraits, cocktail hour and dinner can all happen within a few steps of each other.

Crew Collective & Café, Old Montreal

Best for: An intimate dinner in one of the grandest rooms in the city

Inside the former Royal Bank of Canada headquarters, Crew Collective & Café has a soaring vaulted ceiling, ornate stonework and tall arched windows. An intimate guest list seated at one long table turns that grandeur into something personal.

The space also operates as a public café and workspace, so confirm privatization options, capacity and event requirements directly with the venue.

Photographer's note: I have photographed a full wedding here. A small group under that ceiling feels like a private dinner in a palace.

Forest & Stream Club, Dorval

Best for: A refined, private-club wedding by the lake

The Forest & Stream Club is a historic waterfront property in Dorval, overlooking Lake Saint-Louis, with landscaped grounds, mature trees and warm, traditional interiors. The ceremony, portraits, cocktail hour and reception can all happen on-site.

It feels secluded despite being on the island, and it is particularly well suited to intimate and mid-sized weddings where privacy and a sense of place matter more than a big ballroom.

Photographer's note: I have photographed many weddings here. The lawn and the lake at the end of the day are some of my favourite portrait settings on the island.

Intimate Venues Within an Hour of Montreal

Best for: A small, romantic wedding in a historic building by the water

Le Café de l'Horloge is a restored historic post office in Rigaud, with a stained-glass window, a fireplace, high ceilings, a garden and a waterfront terrace. Its scale makes it one of the most naturally intimate venues in this guide.

You can choose your own caterer or work with the venue's catering service.

Photographer's note: I have photographed weddings and an editorial here. With everything in one place, the day has a calm, unhurried rhythm that suits a small group perfectly.

Intimate Wedding Weekends

Best for: A whole weekend with your closest people, under one roof

Manoir Maplewood is a historic manor in the Eastern Townships, privatized for one group at a time and intended for intimate and mid-sized celebrations. A welcome dinner, the wedding and a slow morning after can all happen in the same place.

Photographer's note: I photographed an editorial here. The house feels residential and personal, which is exactly what a small wedding wants.

Best for: An intimate lakeside estate wedding in the Laurentians

Manoir Davis is a century-old estate above Lac des Sables, with gardens, a lake-facing terrace and accommodations on-site. Its size makes it ideal for couples who want meaningful time with their guests rather than a large ballroom celebration.

Photographer's note: I have photographed a wedding and an editorial here. The terrace, the gardens and the bright interiors give a small wedding a lot of variety.

Best for: An intimate luxury wedding centred on food and hospitality

StoneHaven Le Manoir is a restored historic hotel overlooking Lac des Sables and a member of Relais & Châteaux. Its Italian garden, antique furnishings and wood-panelled interiors make a refined setting, and its emphasis on gastronomy and service suits couples who want their guests to be truly looked after.

Photographer's note: I have photographed at StoneHaven. The manor offers real variety without ever feeling oversized for a small group.
