Vineyard, Orchard and Countryside Wedding Venues Near Montreal

Vines, orchards and riverside gardens within easy reach of Montreal, with a photographer's notes on each.

A photographer's guide to vineyard, orchard and countryside wedding venues near Montreal, and how to plan around the seasons and the light.

Last reviewed and updated: October 2026

You do not have to fly to Europe for a wedding among the vines. Within easy reach of Montreal there are vineyards, an orchard at the foot of Mont-Saint-Hilaire, a riverside garden in Rigaud and a château in the Richelieu Valley, all with the relaxed, open-air feeling of the countryside and none of the stress of a destination wedding.

I am Cagdas Yoldas, a Montreal and Quebec wedding photographer, and I have photographed at most of the venues below. Where I have not, the entry is a researched recommendation. For the full picture of venues in and around the city, see my complete guide to wedding venues in Montreal and nearby.

Planning a Countryside Wedding Near Montreal

Timing with the seasons. Vines and orchards change through the year: blossoms in spring, full green in summer, harvest colour in early fall. Choose your date with the look you want in mind.

Guest travel. Most of these venues are less than an hour from downtown, but guests will still need a plan. Consider a shuttle, especially if the bar stays open late.

A real rain plan. Countryside venues are at their best outdoors. Make sure the indoor or covered alternative is somewhere you would still be happy to celebrate.

Vineyard Wedding Venues

Best for: A romantic vineyard wedding without leaving the Montreal area

In Sainte-Dorothée, Laval, Château Taillefer Lafon feels like a countryside wine estate yet sits just across the river from Montreal. The ceremony can take place beside the rows of vines, cocktails on the lawn, and the reception on the terrace or inside the château, with its chandeliers and large windows.

The reception spaces suit intimate and mid-sized weddings, so confirm the best room and current capacity with the venue.

Photographer's note: I have photographed many weddings here. The vines are the star: they give you a European-looking backdrop just minutes from the château doors.

Château Ste-Agnès, Sutton

Best for: A dramatic wine-country wedding with mountain views

Château Ste-Agnès is a historic vineyard estate in Sutton, in the Eastern Townships, set across 173 acres of terraced vines, stone architecture and cobbled terraces with views of the Appalachian Mountains. A chapel, a château and underground wine cellars add even more settings, and there is a designated area for a marquee.

It is farther from Montreal than the other venues here, so it suits a wedding weekend. The venue does not require an in-house caterer.

Photographer's note: I have photographed at Château Ste-Agnès. The terraced vineyard against the mountains is one of the most cinematic settings in Quebec.

Best for: A relaxed orchard wedding with family-style warmth

Verger du Flanc Nord is an orchard and cidery in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, with orchards, fields, a pond, farm animals and two Nordic-inspired event rooms. Ceremonies under the big willow by the water are a favourite, and the rooms feel more contemporary than a typical barn.

Because the orchard is also open to the public in season, ask how public activities, parking and access will be handled on your date. Exclusive use may be available for some events.

Photographer's note: I have photographed a full wedding here. Long tables, natural materials and seasonal flowers suit the space perfectly, and the orchard rows make wonderful portraits at the end of the day.

Le Café de l'Horloge, Rigaud

Best for: An intimate garden wedding by the water

Between Montreal and Ottawa, Le Café de l'Horloge is a restored historic post office surrounded by greenery, with a garden and a waterfront terrace. Ceremonies on the lawn above the water feel calm and personal, and the indoor room, with its stained glass and fireplace, is a lovely alternative.

It is best suited to smaller weddings. You can bring your own caterer or work with the venue's catering service.

Photographer's note: I have photographed weddings and an editorial here, and moving between the garden, the water and the interior feels completely natural.

Château Saint-Antoine, Richelieu Valley

Best for: A classic countryside wedding with covered ceremony options

In Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, Château Saint-Antoine combines countryside surroundings with Moorish-inspired architecture and ornate, traditional reception rooms. Ceremony options include covered terraces, an outdoor fountain area, an indoor room and the neighbouring church.

The covered spaces give you an outdoor feeling with more protection from the weather, which is a real advantage for a countryside wedding.

Planning a Countryside Wedding?

Vineyards and orchards look their best in soft, low light. I help my couples schedule the ceremony and portraits around the sun, so the landscape glows in the photographs and nobody spends the cocktail hour squinting.
