A guide to the wedding venues of Quebec City and the countryside around it, for celebrations of two hundred guests or of two.
Quebec City offers a rare range of places to marry within a short distance of each other: hotel ballrooms and a former chapel inside Old Québec, museums and historic estates across the city, and gardens and resort hotels along the St. Lawrence beyond it. This guide covers Old Québec and the surrounding region, from receptions for several hundred guests to elopements for two. I work across the region as a Quebec City wedding photographer, and where I have photographed at a venue, I say so.

About this guide: I have photographed at ten of the venues below, and those entries include a short photographer's note. The others are researched entries, written without implying firsthand experience. Capacities come from each venue's own website where it publishes them. Packages, capacities and policies change, so confirm the details directly with the venue before you sign.
How to Choose a Wedding Venue in Quebec City
Decide how much of the day you want in Old Québec. A venue inside or beside the old city puts the Terrasse Dufferin, the lower town and centuries-old stone streets a short walk from your reception. Venues farther out trade that for gardens, river views and more space.
Plan for the season. Quebec City weddings happen in summer gardens and on snow-covered streets. If you want an outdoor ceremony, make sure the indoor alternative feels like a real second choice, not a compromise.
Look at the light in the main room. Some historic ballrooms are dark by design. That suits an evening reception well, but it changes how your photographer works and makes nearby outdoor portrait locations more valuable.
Count the travel. The venues on Île d'Orléans and in Charlevoix are worth the drive, but guest transport and accommodation need to be planned early.
Wedding Venues in Old Québec
Fairmont Le Château Frontenac
Best for: Formal ballroom weddings and winter weddings in the centre of Old Québec
Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is the landmark hotel above the St. Lawrence and the most recognizable building in Quebec City. The hotel offers ten wedding venues for celebrations of 2 to 400 guests, and its largest room, the Salle de Bal, seats up to 550 for a banquet. The ceremony, reception and guest rooms can all stay under one roof.
Photographer's note: The Château has many rooms, and most of them are dark, which gives the evening a warm, intimate feel. There are plenty of portrait spots inside the hotel, and many outdoor locations are only a few minutes away in Old Québec. It works equally well for a summer wedding and a winter one.

Salle des Promotions
Best for: Classic, formal receptions in a historic hall
Salle des Promotions belongs to the Séminaire de Québec, in the heart of Old Québec. The ornate main hall has a large floor for dinner and dancing, with a mezzanine running around the room above it, and guests can step out into the Séminaire's quiet courtyard for the cocktail hour. The venue does not publish capacities online, so ask which configuration suits your guest list.
Photographer's note: Salle des Promotions is surrounded by good portrait locations, all close by. If you would rather keep the celebration indoors, the mezzanine is a lovely place for cocktails.

Chapelle du Séminaire
Best for: Moody, atmospheric receptions in a former chapel
The Chapelle du Séminaire, officially the Chapelle extérieure du Séminaire de Québec, stands beside the Séminaire in Old Québec. For years it was known as the chapel of the Musée de l'Amérique francophone, and it has since taken back its original name. Built in 1900 and deconsecrated in 1992, it is now an event hall run by the Musée de la civilisation, with room for 175 guests at a banquet, 250 for a cocktail dinner with stations and 300 for a standing cocktail.
Photographer's note: The chapel is a natural fit for a moody wedding. It is also close to many of Old Québec's best portrait spots, so there is no need to plan a drive for portraits.

Morrin Centre
Best for: Intimate receptions with Victorian character
The Morrin Centre occupies a nationally recognized heritage building in Old Québec that served first as a prison and later as Morrin College. Its Victorian library, in use since 1868, is a beautiful room for cocktails, and College Hall, the centre's largest and most elegant room, is a luminous space for the reception.

Le Germain Hotel Québec
Best for: Small weddings and rehearsal dinners with guests staying on site
Le Germain Hotel Québec is tucked away on a quiet, picturesque street in the Old Port, in the lower town of Old Québec. Its two event spaces, Espace D and Salon Germain, each hold up to 40 guests and are filled with natural light, which suits a small reception, a rehearsal dinner or an intimate wedding with guests staying in the hotel.

Auberge Saint-Antoine
Best for: Weddings of up to about 110 guests in a historic Old Port hotel
Auberge Saint-Antoine is a Relais & Châteaux hotel in the Old Port, between the St. Lawrence River and the old town. Its event spaces range from the James Hunt room, which seats 28 and opens onto a private patio at the Coteau restaurant, to Hall Explore, a river-facing room for up to 110 guests. A wedding booking also requires a block of at least 10 guest rooms for two nights.
Photographer's note: The Auberge has rooms in many sizes, plus a terrace, so it adapts well to the size of your wedding. For portraits, I suggest going outside, where the Old Port and the lower town are right at the door.

Musée de la civilisation
Best for: Large, modern receptions near the river
The Musée de la civilisation is in the historic lower town of Old Québec, near the St. Lawrence. Its multi-purpose room adapts easily to different events, and for weddings it holds 350 guests for a reception only, or 200 for a ceremony and reception in the same space.

Manège militaire Voltigeurs de Québec
Best for: Very large weddings in a historic armoury
The Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury, in the heart of Old Québec, is the only military building in Canada recognized as a national historic site. Rebuilt after a fire in 2008, it is one of the few venues in the city designed for very large events, with room for up to 1,200 guests.

Wedding Venues Elsewhere in Quebec City
Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec
Best for: Modern weddings with clean architectural lines
The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ) sits in the Battlefields Park on the Plains of Abraham, close to the Grande Allée and a short distance from Old Québec. While its older pavilions are closed for construction, events take place in the contemporary Pierre Lassonde Pavilion, whose modular spaces host from 10 to 1,750 people, including an interior courtyard.
Photographer's note: The MNBAQ is a modern venue, and it gives you clean, contemporary backdrops for portraits.
Domaine Cataraqui
Best for: Estate weddings with gardens, woodland and river views
Domaine Cataraqui is a historic estate in Sillery, overlooking the St. Lawrence. The neoclassical house was completed in 1851, and the grounds include one of Quebec's rare historic gardens, a kitchen garden cultivated since the 1850s, a winter garden built in 1866 and a large wooded area. The house and grounds can be rented for receptions and weddings.
Photographer's note: Cataraqui is a very beautiful venue for portraits, indoors and out, and you can have both without leaving the property.

Domaine de Maizerets
Best for: Garden weddings of up to 150 guests within the city
Domaine de Maizerets is a large park in Quebec City with an arboretum and gardens. It offers indoor rooms of different sizes as well as outdoor spaces, so couples can plan for both, and it can host up to 150 guests.

Wedding Venues Outside Quebec City
Parc de la Chute-Montmorency
Best for: Waterfall views close to the city
Parc de la Chute-Montmorency sits on the banks of the St. Lawrence just outside the city. At 83 metres (275 feet), Montmorency Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in Canada, and the park offers seven distinct event spaces, indoors and out.

La Seigneurie de l'Île d'Orléans
Best for: Outdoor ceremonies in themed gardens on the river
La Seigneurie is in Saint-François, at the eastern end of Île d'Orléans. Its themed gardens, including a large lavender field, run along the St. Lawrence, and weddings are held in the gardens. The venue's spaces are all outdoors, so settle the rain plan early.
Photographer's note: The Seigneurie has lovely outdoor spaces for portraits, and the gardens give you plenty of variety without leaving the property.
Hôtel de Glace
Best for: Winter weddings in an ice chapel
Hôtel de Glace, at Village Vacances Valcartier about 30 minutes from Quebec City, is rebuilt from snow and ice every winter and is the only ice hotel in North America. Couples marry in its ice chapel, which is redesigned each year along with the rest of the hotel. It is open in winter only, and the next season opens in January 2027.

Le Germain Hotel & Spa Charlevoix
Best for: Wedding weekends in Charlevoix, with the option of arriving by train
Le Germain Hotel & Spa Charlevoix is on the edge of Baie-Saint-Paul, farther from Quebec City than the other venues here but worth the trip. The train station is next door, so guests can arrive by rail. Its event spaces range from rooms for 10 to the Multi, which holds 450, and several rooms open onto terraces over the inner courtyard, which work well for cocktails.

Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu
Best for: Large resort weddings and full wedding weekends in Charlevoix
Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu is a French château-style resort in La Malbaie, in Charlevoix, dating from the late 19th century. It offers 19 wedding venues, and its largest room, the Richelieu, seats up to 820 for a banquet. Couples can also marry outdoors, including on the clifftops of the hotel's 27-hole golf course above the St. Lawrence.
Photographer's note: The Manoir is a beautiful venue with indoor and outdoor spaces, and the golf course gives the property even more room to work with.

Photographing a Quebec City Wedding
Most of these venues are a short drive from each other, but each asks for a different plan: a dark ballroom, a garden with no roof, a winter afternoon that loses its light early. I build every timeline around the venue, the season and the light, so portraits happen where they look best and you still have time with your guests.
