The Ultimate Wedding Color That Never Lets Us Down: Blush

Blush is the colour every wedding Pinterest board arrives at eventually, which is exactly why it is worth examining. Used carelessly it turns a room saccharine. Why blush works better with grey than with more pink

The common mistake is to surround blush with warmer pinks and creams until the whole room reads as one soft blur. Pairing it with grey does the opposite: the grey gives the eye somewhere to rest, and the blush suddenly reads as a deliberate choice rather than a default.

That was the organising idea here. Lounge furniture and linens carried the grey, florals by Lelili Fleurs carried the blush, and the balance between them held the light-and-airy feeling without tipping into sweetness.

Using blush at your own wedding

Pick one neutral to carry it — grey, stone or a warm off-white — and commit. Then let blush appear in two or three places rather than everywhere: florals, one textile, and perhaps the cake. The palette survives daylight and candlelight equally well, which is more than most colours manage across a full wedding day.
